Ground screw,known as helical anchors, piers, screw anchors or screw pilessy,it is a modern foundation system,using the drilling machine to install which makes it as the most efficient and cost-saving footing solution.

Ze worden geproduceerd met behulp van buisvormige holle profielen van verschillende afmetingen voor de ankeras. De onderdelen kunnen bestaan uit een massieve vierkante staafas of een holle buisvormige as waaraan spiraalvormige platen zijn gelast. Buisvormige spiraalpalen zijn echter de standaard spiraalpalen geworden.

Vanwege de ontwerpspecificaties en het installatiegemak van de spiraalankers worden ze meestal gebruikt wanneer de bodemgesteldheid standaard funderingsoplossingen niet bevordert. De ankerschacht doet het werk waarbij de belasting van de constructie wordt overgebracht naar de palen. Spiraalvormige stalen platen worden aan de ankeras gelast om te voldoen aan de bodemgesteldheid.
